Combining the Right Product for the Right Craft Medium
All markets are not created equal, this is especially true when doing craft shows. It is always best to have craft products that compliment each other. So what is combining the right product to the right craft medium? Here is a good example? A few weeks ago I visited a craft show and came across a furniture maker. The furniture was beautiful and displayed on top of them were a few dolls. Of course, people didn't even notice the dolls and would set them aside so they could get a closer look at the furniture. Now I am not an expect in this field by any means, however I would think that large furniture pieces such as a dining table w/chairs, trash bins and cabinet sets are not good displays for large dolls. True, I have seen smaller dolls displayed at a friend's home. But she was not showing off the furniture but the knick-knacks that she purchased. The best way to display furniture pieces of this size is with either a plant or home décor basket. This is what I mean about combining the right craft for the right craft medium. A furniture designer is not the same as a doll designer and visa-versa. Now I know sometimes crafters show booth spaces and this is all good; however one crafter may make sales and the other may not. Especially if what you sell does not fit in with the theme of the crafter you are sharing with. To solve this problem, talks to your friend about the display set up or accompany them to one of their shows. That way you see first hand how things are done and if sharing a booth is beneficial to you. If you decide to share a booth then make sure you are getting the best of selling your products. Fitting into the theme of other crafters is always a good thing especially if you both are making money. The right product with the right medium means sales for both crafters. © 2006 ?All Rights Reserved~~~Talena Bacon is the owner of Sew Cute Dolls & More and Sew Cute Doll Patterns.
